My Journey from Keel to Mast

The sea didn’t just give me a job! It gave me stories, storms, and the strength to lead. I grew up with it, from “Keel to Mast”, each step defined the mariner I’ve become. Every voyage carved a lesson, and every port left its mark.

Dry Feet’s Journey

Bahri (2019 – Present)
At Bahri, I lead from behind the helm, served as Director of Fleet Personnel, Senior Manager, and Marine Senior Superintendent. I help steer not just ships, but people. Guiding people, building culture, and keeping the human compass steady across a global fleet.

Wet Feet’s Journey

Saudi Aramco (2014 – 2019)
As a Harbour Pilot, I brought ships home safely, holding a full clear unlimited license and the trust of every captain entering port. I learned the power of precision and the poetry of timing. Every maneuver taught me respect for the sea and those who sail it.

Vela International Marine (1998 – 2014)
This was “the Keel” where it all began, as a Deck Cadet back in 1998 with grease on my sleeves and stars in my eyes. I climbed the ranks: Third Officer, Second Officer, Chief Officer, Drydock Inspector and Quality Assurance Inspector. But more than titles, I earned lessons in resilience, responsibility, and what it means to serve the sea with integrity.

The Education That Anchored Me

My journey was charted through the halls of some of the UK’s finest maritime institutions: Warsash Maritime Academy, Solent University, and South Tyneside College. Places where the foundations of a life at sea were forged in thought, discipline, and ambition.
